Abstract
Single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) operation has been successfully demonstrated in various high-power pulsed-laser systems by using both injection seeding and/or intracavity-dispersive-elements (IDEs).1,2 In the case of IDEs it is well known that the laser frequency stability always relies on the stabilization of the cavity length whereas SLM operation and laser amplitude stability rely on locking of the laser cavity and of the IDE spectra. Recently we reported experimental results3 that demonstrate an inherent frequency stabilization of a SLM Nd:glass laser for which the above principles do not apply. In fact our observations show that the output frequency depends only on the spectrum of the reflective-multipass interferometer used as IDE.
