Abstract
Recent work has shown that three-dimensional saturable gain-gratings, optically written by spatial hole burning in the active lasing medium, can act as efficient diffractive optical elements (diffraction efficiency η can be >100%),1 high reflectivity phase conjugate four-wave mixing mirrors (R > 250,000% demonstrated)2 and for spatial, spectral and Q-switching control of high-gain solid-state lasers.3-5
