Abstract
Small semiconductor based dipole antennas, driven by a femtosecond laser, have recently proven to be useful and versatile sources for pulsed far-infrared radiation. The bandwidth of these THz-pulses extends from 50 GHz to 5 THz. In order to collimate the generated THz-pulse, the most common solution is to attach a hyperhemispherical lens directly to the semiconductor substrate supporting the antenna.1 In this work we have measured the angular distribution of radiation from such a system, and compared it with a theoretical calculation.
