Abstract
For the first time, to our knowledge, fluorescence and laser oscillation in Ti-diffused waveguide structures in Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 samples are reported. The Ti-indiffusion technique was used to study an alternative to the proton exchange technique which has been applied for the recent development of the first guided wave laser in LiNbO3.3Ti-doped amplifier and laser structures would be compatible to the numerous Ti-diffused devices in LiNbO3 already developed.
