Abstract
We used the technique of self diffraction from nondegenerate laser-induced gratings to measure the phase-coherence time of excited one-pair states in quantum dots of CdS1-xSex mixed crystals embedded in a glass matrix. This method gives the possibility to determine dephasing times in the femtosecond to picosecond range using a nanosecond laser system. The phase-coherence time is here deduced from an experiment in the frequency domain in contrast to the usually applied four-wave mixing or photon echo in the time domain.
