Abstract

Various recent experiments have confirmed that the intensity fluctuations of light are qualitatively modified by passing it through a spectral filter. Coherent phase-fluctuating light from a semiconductor laser is converted into light with chaotic intensity fluctuations when the passband width λ of the filter is narrow compared with the laser linewidth.[1]
