Abstract
In recent years, the interest in hybrid bistable devices has increased rapidly due to the possibility of using these properties for optical computing systems. Therefore we have investigated the optoelectronic features of different CdS layers pointing out especially the bistability in the photoconduction presented by thermooptical hysteresis. We grow our thin (2-10-μm) CdS layers on various substrates (glass, Pyrex, and calcium fluoride) using three methods: evaporation, closed space vapor transport, and the spray deposit technique.
