Abstract

High density recording has been studied by using phase change rewritable(PCR) media, 680 nm laser diode and high numerical aperture focus lens of 0.55. The pregrooved disks having narrow track pitch have been prepared. The tracking parameter at narrow track pitch and the write/read characteristics have been measured and the attainable recording density by PPM recording method has been estimated. The relationship between the overwrite erase ratio and the jitter of play back signal has been studied.
