Abstract

Correlation techniques are used widely in communications, sonar, radar, medical and other signal processing systems. The most desirable property of correlation as a Digital Phase Detector (DPD), is the ability to measure the time delay between two similar signals. This paper proposes the use of correlation techniques to generate DPD signals which can be used in place of conventional phase detectors. The proposed correlator generates a quadrature PES and a PES signal with a +/- 1/2 track sawtooth signal.
