Abstract
Current switching systems are only capable of processing signals on an individual wavelength basis. The traditional electronic switching requires 100% of traffic to undergo optical-to-electrical-to-optical (OEO) conversion. The OEO solution requires expensive demultiplexing, signal processing, and switching at the individual wavelength granularity.
