Abstract
Gain equalization becomes a critical issue in DWDM systems especially systems with cascaded amplifiers and add/drop systems. Small variations in gain between channels can cause a large variation in power and thus signal to noise ratio between channels at the end of the cascade.1 In practical DWDM application overall power flatness is required.
