Abstract
Networks with ring architectures provide increased reliability and survivability.1,2 Especially, the bidirectional self-healing ring (SHR) networks employing the bidirectional signal transmission are very attractive since they require only two fibers instead of four fibers.3–5 In addition, interconnected bidirectional SHR networks with optical cross-connects provide higher flexibility and survivability compared with simple SHR networks.
