Abstract

Upconversion pumping in the 1400nm-range gives thulium-doped fiber amplifier (TDFA) a dynamic range of 15dB, and transient power excursion much lower than conventional erbium-doped fiber amplifier during dynamic wavelength add-drop Hence, it is promising for bursty traffic applications.
