Curvature Polishing for Light-Weight, Thin Reflective Optics

Abstract

We introduce a non-abrasive method for shaping front-surface mirrors. Using laser and back-side rubbing techniques to alter local stresses, we deterministically introduce ≥ 8 waves (HeNe) of shape to 2 mm thick substrates.
