Abstract
The level of stability of interference coatings, such as narrow-bandpass or edge filters, determines the effectiveness and the life time of many precision optical instruments. A considerable number of papers are devoted to the study of the mechanism of the change with time of the optical properties of interference coatings (the aging effect) and of the conditions ensuring their stabilization.
