Teflon Laps: Some New Developments and Results

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The process of superpolishing using Teflon laps has been very successful and supersmooth (<1 Å rms) and very flat (λ/100) optical surfaces have been produced on a large range of amorphous and crystalline optical materials. A brief outline of the Teflon lap technique will be given.
