Abstract
Using optical pulses as short as 15 fs, we were able to extend the techniques of THz generation from the far-infrared to the mid-infrared spectral domain. Our method produces highly stable mid-infrared pulses at a 100 MHz repetition rate, simply by focusing the pulses delivered by a Ti:Sapphire oscillator on an electro-optic material. Since the bandwidth of the incident pulses is about 60 THz, this allows the generation of ultra-broad band femtosecond pulses extending from a wavelength of 6 μm to above 15 μm [1].
