Modeling the Impact of ROADM Intra-Node Add/Drop Contention on Optical Network Performance

Abstract

We develop an analytical model for evaluating the lightpath blocking performance of an optical network with ROADM intra-node add/drop contention. The analytical model can approximately predict the simulation results. Also, the study indicates that properly raising contention factor can greatly improve the blocking performance.
