Abstract

We design and optimize one type of ring fibres capable of supporting a series of azimuthal modes while maintaining radial single-mode. These radial single-modes are orthogonal, and thus they can provide the reduced intermode crosstalk and ultimately enable communication using multi-modes in optical fibre systems. As a proof of concept, we numerically demonstrate a ring fibre that is able of supporting 52 azimuthal multi-modes while maintaining the condition of radial single-mode.
