A Fiber Figure of Merit for Uncompensated Nyquist-WDM Links Employing EDFA and/or Distributed Raman Amplification

Abstract

We quantify the effect of fiber parameters on the performance of uncompensated Nyquist- WDM links via analytical approaches. We propose a fiber figure-of-merit for systems employing EDFA and/or distributed Raman. Its predictions agree with analytical results.
