Abstract

A novel resonator design strategy for high-power diode-end-pumped solid-state lasers is described which reduces the beam distortion and depolarisation loss due to thermally-induced lens aberrations and stress-birefringence. Experimental results for a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser which confirm the validity of this approach are presented.
