Abstract

By operating a laser system at wavelength corresponding precisely to a Fraunhofer line in the solar spectrum, noise which often inundates a laser receiver observing a solar illuminated background can be minimized, For many laser receivers which operate in the visible, near the peak of the solar emission spectrum, receiver current caused by detecting scattered solar radiation is the major contributor to the noise.
