Abstract

A versatile, highly stable, and reliable Nd:YAG laser illuminates a metal-photocathode rf electron gun at the Brookhaven Accelerator Test Facility (ATF),¹ where particle accelerators and FELs are being studied. This system addresses the stringent requirements on pulse duration, timing jitter, energy, spatial profile, and pointing imposed by such experiments.²
