Abstract

There are two types of resonator. One is stable resonator, another is unstable resonator. The stable resonator can be used for low gain laser medium, but it oscillates with the multi transverse modes for the large bore laser medium and the diameter of the fundamental mode is small. On the other hand, the large aperture laser medium with the unstable resonator can oscillate in a single transverse mode. But the low gain laser medium can't oscillate with the unstable resonator. Therefore, we proposed new unstable resonators for low gain, large aperture laser medium such as COIL.
