Abstract

The interaction of fiber dispersion, chirp and extinction ratio is investigated, and optimal driving condition for directly modulated transmitter at 2.5Gbit/s is discussed. We experimentally confirmed that the optimum bias condition exists at 1.5-1.8 fold above threshold current.
