Abstract

For use in laser cooling of 24Mg+ ions in the ASTRID storage ring, a CW, tunable, UV laser system producing up to 90 mW of laser light at 280 nm has been built. The system consists of a commercial ring dye laser and an external resonator in which a KDP crystal is placed.
