Abstract

The chief advantage of the synchronously-pumped dye laser with a frequency-doubled cw mode-locked Nd:YAG is that it allows for synchronous amplification using pump pulses shorter than 100 ps.1-2 The colliding pulse mode-locked dye laser, on the other hand, has the advantage of producing stable ultrashort pulses. We have developed a dye laser which is both synchronously pumped and colliding pulse mode-locked, yielding 90 fs pulses synchronized to an RF source with a jitter less than 20 ps.
