Abstract
High power CO2 laser have been designed and developed utilizing many different excitation schemes, electrodes configurations and gas coding schemes. Many papers describe the detail design of the laser systems, still it is not obvious how to determine different parameters of a laser of given out put power i.e. dimensions of discharge volume, gas pressure and mixture, optical resonator configuration etc. More recently, Schuocker [1] has outlined the design considerations of ultra high power CO2 lasers and assessed the feasibility of realizing output power in 100 kW range in co-axial discharge configuration with fast axial gas flow.
