Abstract

We present experimental results obtained with a Pockels cell or passively Q-switched transvcrsc-diode-pumped Nd : YAG laser The pumping head is made of 36 QCW diode bars from Mc Donnell Douglas Corp. (4500 scries), which are closely coupled onto the Y AG rod (Crismatec). The active length and diameter of the cylindrical rod equal 10 and 6 mm. respectively. The total diodes energy is 800 mJ. when the pumping duration Tp and drive current Ip equal 400 µs and 65 A. We don't use any temperature control and the frequency is kept below a few Hertz. The diodes emission wavelength is then above 805 nm, leading to a coupling efficiency. ηc, near 70 %.
