Abstract

The goal of this presentation is twofold : firstly, to discuss the advantages of combining Active Vertical Cavity Components (AVCC) and free-space optics in the implementation of reconfigurable wavelength multiplexing systems, and secondly, to discuss and investigate experimentally the capability of such a devices to provide wavelength conversion. Finally, we present possible extensions to Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) involving both system and technological aspects.
