Abstract

The relative intensity noise (RIN) induced by fibre dispersion slope has been indicated as a detrimental effect in very long broadband linear transmission systems operating at the zero-dispersion wavelength since the RJN may increase strongly with frequency and transmission length [1]. In this paper, we show theoretically and numerically that the transmitted RIN spectrum over singlemode fibre at zero-dispersion wavelength is similar to the RIN spectrum at the fibre input.
