Abstract

A combination of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and optical time-division multiplexing is the most promising approach to Tb/s data transmission. As the arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) represent the key component in WDM, their behaviour in the OTDM environment, particularly the short-pulse response, become an important issue. In this study, short pulse transmission through an AWG is investigated.
