Gain-Clamped SOA Enabled Reach-Extended Self-Homodyne Coherent Bidirectional Transmission for Inter-DCI Applications

Abstract

We propose a reach-extended self-homodyne coherent bidirectional system utilizing gain-clamped SOA as both linear-booster signal amplifier and LO regenerator. Successful 400G transmissions over 50-km and 75-km links are demonstrated with simple maximum-likelihood phase recovery, yielding a cost-efficient solution for future inter-datacentre interconnects.
