Abstract

Recently, much attention has been paid to the analysis of different coherent effects in three-level systems driven by a strong coherent field.1 This analysis was traditionally based on the Maxwell-Bloch equations where the interaction of atoms with a reservoir was described by means of relaxation constants, which were supposed to be independent of the driving field.
