Abstract

Optical injection is an efficient technique to improve or control externally the spectral characteristics of a semiconductor laser, in particular through injection-locking1 and Four-Wave-Mixing processes.2 When a delayed electronic feedback is simultaneously applied to the semiconductor laser, these processes may be strongly attenuated or intensified depending on the feedback loop delay and gain.3 This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the combined effects of optical injection and electronic feedback on the temporal and spectral behavior of a semiconductor laser.
