Abstract

Invention of laser systems, generating pulses with the duration of a Tew oscillation period of the light held, determines an actuality of theoretical investigations of the propagation of such short pulses in the optical media. A main statement here is that the term “envelope”is not applicable to the such supremely short pulses (SSP). So, herein the slowly varying envelope approximation cannot be applied for a wave equation at the theoretical study of nonlinear interaction of such pulses with the matter.
