Abstract

It has been reported1) that the axial GRIN lens reduces the third-order aberrations of an optical system in relation to the conventional homogeneous lens. In this paper we have succeeded in fabricating the plastic axial GRIN material by two different methods. Assuming that the axial GRIN lens with a spherical entry surface and a flat exit surface was obtained from the sample fabricated, the longitudinal spherical aberration was calculated.
