Abstract

We have studied two Eu3+ sites in CaSO4 by selective excitation, emission, optical holeburning and optically detected nuclear magnetic resonance (ODNMR) techniques. Both centres (henceforth referred to as 1 and 2) have 7F05D0 excitation signals at ~578.7nm; the two absorptions are 34GHz apart. The emission and excitation spectra of the two centres are very similar, and indicate that low symmetry sites are involved.
