Abstract

We discuss in this paper diffraction of guided waves by a concentric-arc grating in a slab waveguide and apply this diffraction phenomenon to form a novel spectrograph for the guided waves. We find it also interesting that optics in this spectrograph resemble that of the well-known "Rowland Circle"1 associated with the Paschen mounting of the ordinary spectrograph.
