Abstract

We have shown that electrical pulses narrower than the optical pulses can be generated by discharging a pulse-forming line with optical pulses in the nanosecond regime. The present work uses picosecond optical pulses to switch the pulse-forming network, with several interesting variations of the charging and switching junctions of the line.
