Abstract

Considering not only the physical meaning of pupil coordinates but also the ideal pupil curvatures, we had derived the sine condition in the presence of spherical aberration which coincides with that proposed by Marx[1,2]. The validity of this condition had been confirmed by numerical calculations of ray traces for the lens which image plane is almost flat [3].
