Abstract

The CCD/Transit Instrument (CTI) is a dedicated survey telescope designed to do a deep photometric and polarimetric survey of about 50 square degrees of the sky. This telescope will be used to find variable objects in real-time. The principal scientific programs of the CTI will be the detection of supernovae prior to maximum light, the supernova production rate as a function of galaxy color and redshift, and the definition on the basis of variability and nonstellar color of a sample of QSOs complete to faint limiting magnitude.
