Abstract

The guided-wave wavelength-division demultiplexers have potential applications in optical communication systems and sensors. They have been realized by using grating,1 directional coupler (DC),2 resonator,3 or Y-junction devices.4 In this paper we report the modeling of a DC for dual-wavelength demultiplexing in graded-index ion-exchanged channel waveguides in glass using normal-mode analysis.
