Abstract

Consider a waveguide where X(z) and Y(z) are the amplitudes of the TM and TE modes. These modes have different propagation and loss constants and are coupled by a perturbation of the waveguide. At an increment δz along the guide where α is the decay term for each mode and C is the coupling term.
