Abstract

One of the key devices in the monolithically integrated coherent receiver for polarization diversity systems is the semiconductor guided- wave polarization mode splitter. Several devices reported so far,1,2 however, require high accuracy in fabrication and/or tuning electrodes for adjusting the coupling length because directional couplers are used as a key element.
