Abstract
Guided-wave polarization splitters are important for many optical signal processing uses including coherent polarization-diversity receivers. For monolithic integration with other optoelectronic devices and compatibility with optical fiber communications at 1.5 μm wavelengths, splitter components that are compact and based on the InP material system are preferred. In this work we demonstrate an InP-based TE/TM splitter with 380-μm active length that can provide better than -10-dB crosstalk.
