Lithium niobate compact photonic devices on silicon substrates

Abstract

Lithium niobate submicron waveguides and compact photonic devices are demonstrated on silicon substrates. Optical waveguides with loss of 1.2 dB/cm and Mach-Zehnder modulators with a Vπ.L of 3.6 V.cm and bandwidth larger than 8 GHz are demonstrated.
