Abstract
The technique of transient degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) with incoherent light has been applied to investigate the ultrafast dephasing of a variety of dye molecules at room temperature. A broadband (21-nm) dye laser was used with extremely short correlation time τc.1 Information on relaxation processes was extracted from the self-diffracted signals as a function of the time delay τ between the two excitation pulses.
