Chaotic Laser as an Amplifier of Periodic Signals VIA Deterministic Stochastic Resonance

Abstract

It has been theoretically shown on the basis of a simple map that chaotic systems operating in the region of intermittency resulting from the band-merging crisis can enhance the response of systems to weak periodic signal via so-called deterministic stochastic resonance (SR) [1 and references therein]. In this case, chaos inherent in the system is used as an internal source of noise instead of an external one as in conventional SR.
