Abstract
A new laser safeguard based on the blackbody absorption principle has been used in our laser laboratories. Laser light scattered in the laboratory is absorbed completely when its enters the safeguard and laser eye injury accidents are efficiently prevented. No damage was detected after six months testing with a 30-MW laser pulse of 10/s repetition rate, 8-mm beam diam, and working 6 h continuously every day.
